NuCalm Public Safety Division and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Department of Texas Announce Statewide Partnership to Support Veterans and Their Families
June 2, 2026
NuCalm Public Safety Division and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Department of Texas (MOPHTX) are proud to announce a new statewide affinity partnership focused on supporting Purple Heart recipients, veterans, first responders, and their families through access to nervous system recovery and regulation resources.
The partnership was born from an unexpected conversation earlier this year during the Texas Police Chiefs Association Conference in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Ryan Layne, National Director of NuCalm’s Public Safety Division and Founder of Nervous System Regulation Training (NSRT™), first met Skyler J.E. Barker while NuCalm was hosting its Recovery Lounge experience for attending chiefs and command staff. At the time, Barker was not attending the conference as a guest. He was working security and patrol operations as a senior officer assigned to the Corpus Christi SWAT Team.
After noticing the Recovery Lounge, Barker stopped to learn more about NuCalm and the science behind nervous system regulation. What began as a brief conversation quickly evolved into a deeper discussion about operational stress, cumulative trauma, recovery, and the growing need for sustainable nervous system support among both veterans and first responders.
During that conversation, Barker shared his involvement with numerous organizations and missions, including his roles as Commander of MOPH Chapter 598, Founder and Director of Night of Grace, Co-Founder of Forging Resilience, and Director of the Second Battalion Fourth Marines Association.
“What stood out to me immediately was that this wasn’t a sales pitch,” said Barker. “This was about recovery, resilience, and giving people access to tools that can actually help regulate the nervous system after years of stress exposure. As someone who lives in both the veteran and first responder communities, I saw the potential impact immediately.”
While the original concept focused on creating a partnership with Barker’s local chapter, discussions with Michael P. Matthews, Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Department of Texas, quickly expanded the vision into a statewide initiative serving Purple Heart recipients and their families throughout Texas.
“This partnership aligns directly with our mission of serving combat-wounded veterans and their families,” said Matthews. “Many of our members continue to carry the weight of operational stress long after their service ends. Providing access to tools that support recovery and nervous system regulation is an important step forward, and we are grateful to partner with organizations willing to invest back into our veteran community.”
Through the partnership, members and supporters of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Department of Texas receive access to exclusive lifetime pricing through the organization’s official partnership portal: nucalm.co/mophtx
In addition, a portion of all proceeds generated through the program will be donated back to participating Texas chapters to support the organization’s mission and ongoing operational needs.
“For us, this partnership is deeply personal,” said Ryan Layne. “These communities have spent their lives serving others while often neglecting their own recovery. We believe nervous system regulation is one of the missing pieces in long-term health, performance, and resilience. To partner with an organization like the Military Order of the Purple Heart Department of Texas is an incredible honor for both NuCalm and NSRT™.”
NuCalm has been trusted by members of U.S. Special Forces, Navy SEALs, Air Force Special Operations, U.S. Border Patrol BORTAC and BORSTAR, the FBI, FBI Hostage Rescue Team, SWAT teams, and professional sports organizations across the country. Through its Public Safety Division and NSRT™ initiatives, the company continues expanding access to neuroscience-backed recovery and nervous system regulation tools for veterans, first responders, and other high-stress professions.
